Wanna Dance? Summer Dance Challenge

Official Guinness World Record attempt for the title of "World's Largest Tap Dance Class"
  • The Official Guinness World Record attempt is open to anyone ages 5+!

  • This includes dancers, teachers, parents etc.

  • All you need is a pair of tap shoes!

  • Participation is included for dancers registered for the convention portion of the Summer Dance Challenge, however they must register separately for the class so we can keep an accurate participation count.

  • Dancers not registered for convention can sign up for the Official Guinness World Record attempt class independently for only $10.

2018 Final Callback Gala

This is a ticketed event where the highest scoring routines are invited back to the stage to compete for top awards before the final awards session.

 

Routines invited to perform in the Final Callback Gala include:

  • Opening number by all Soloist of the Year contestants

  • The 3 highest scoring Mini (7 & younger) group/lines (max 1/studio)

  • The 3 highest scoring Junior (8 - 11) group/lines (max 1/studio)

  • The 3 highest scoring Teen (12 - 15) group/lines (max 1/studio)

  • The 3 highest scoring Senior (16 & older) group/lines (max 1/studio)

  • The 3 highest scoring Junior (11 & younger) duet/trios

  • The 3 highest scoring Senior (12 & older) duet/trios

  • The 3 Mini (7& under) Soloist of the Year contestants with the highest average mark with their solo of choice

  • The 3 Junior (8-11 years old) Soloist of the Year contestants with the highest average mark with their solo of choice

  • The 3 Teen(12-15 years old) Soloist of the Year contestants with the highest average mark with their solo of choice

  • The 3 Senior (16-19 years old) Soloist of the Year contestants with the highest average mark with their solo of choice

  • 3 Junior(11 & younger) Improv Finalists

  • 3 Senior (12 & older) Improv Finalists

2018 Soloist of the Year

Dancers competing for Soloist of the Year must be registered for convention and Soloist of the Year package which includes private rehearsals for the opening number in the Final Callback Gala, Soloist of the Year swag and private master classes for contestants only.

 

The 2018 Soloist of the Year title is awarded at 4 levels, Mini (7 & under) Junior (8-11 years old) Teen (12-15 years old) and Senior (16-19 years old). This award is given to a soloist with two or more solos, the average mark of the two routines scoring the highest determines the winner.

 

The dancers with the top 3 average scores are invited to perform the solo of their choosing in the 2018 Final Callback Gala. The title winner will be announced at the final awards following the gala. Soloist of the Year receives a custom Wanna Dance? street sign and a crown. *In the event fewer than five dancers qualify for each division age categories may be condensed at the discretion of Wanna Dance?

Entry Submission

Entries for the Wanna Dance? Summer Dance Challenge are due June 1st 2018. Entries are to be submitted online using the official Wanna Dance? form. Email us to request an official entry package! Directors/studio owners only please.

 

Scheduling

A tentative schedule will be sent to each studio, any changes must be requested by the studio director.
