Awards/Placements
All entries receive standing a based on their mark. Each dancer in a solo, duet/trio or production receives a beautiful custom designed glitter medal. Each dancer in a group/line receives one of our custom award ribbons. Beautiful custom spinner medals are awarded to each dancer placing 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in a solo, or duet/trio category with 3 or more participants. Crystal 1st, 2nd and 3rd place trophies are awarded in group/line categories with 3 or more participants.
Scoring System
Platinum - 95 – 100
Diamond - 93 – 94.99
Emerald - 90 - 92.99
Sapphire - 87 – 89.99
Gold - 84 – 86.99
High Silver 81 - 83.99
Silver 79 and under
Division High Score Awards
Awarded in each division based on the number of qualifying entries. Overall winners receive a Wanna Dance Canada plaque
20 or more qualifying entries - Top 10
10-19 qualifying entries - Top 5
5-9 qualifying entries - Top 3
4 or less qualifying entries - Top 1
*Soloists can only qualify once, with their highest scoring solo, for overall awards.
*Improv solos are not eligible for high scores.
*If four or less competitors are in a division Wanna Dance Canada reserves the right to combine divisions for high scores.
Soloist of the Year
The Soloist of the Year title is awarded at six (6) levels:
Mini - 7-9
Junior - 10-11
Intermediate - 12-13
Teen - 14-15
Senior - 16-18
Advanced - 19-21
This award is given to a soloist with two (2) or more solos in different disciplines in their age division, based on the combined score of their two (2) highest scoring solos. Soloist of the Year receives a custom Wanna Dance? crystal high score trophy and a crown.
Soloist of the Year is awarded in divisions with five (5) or more eligible competitors. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be awarded.
*If five or less competitors are in a division Wanna Dance Canada reserves the right to combine divisions for Soloist of the Year titles.
*Improv solos are not eligible for Soloist Of The Year
Special Awards
Special awards will be given to dances throughout the day which grab the attention of our adjudicators, for anything from excellent storytelling to amazing extensions. Special awards are not based on scores.
Performance Scholarships
Wanna Dance? awards a number of performance scholarships to dancers who grab the attention of the adjudicators throughout the weekend. Wanna Dance? is proud to partner with top performance tour companies to provide dancers with these opportunities, in the past we have had dancers receive scholarships to perform in New York City, Los Angeles, and the Mediterranean! All dancers are eligible for these scholarships.
Lightning Elite is a Canadian dance tour provider offering elite training and performance opportunities for dancers ages 7+! Dancers selected in 2025 will have the opportunity to be a part of one of the 2025 Lightning Elite Performance Teams in Disneyland, Disney World, or New York City!

Adjudicator’s Choice
The Adjudicator’s Choice award is given at each awards session to a dance that stands out to our adjudicators as being both entertaining and is performed exceptionally. Adjudicator's Choice awards are not based on scores.
Choreography Awards
Awarded to a routine with outstanding choreography at each award session. Choreography awards are not based on scores.
Top Choreographer
Custom Wanna Dance? plaque awarded to the most outstanding choreography of the event as selected by the adjudicators.
Top Young Choreographer
Custom Wanna Dance? plaque awarded to the most outstanding of the "student choreography" routines.
*Top young choreographer will be awarded when there are five or more student choreography routines.
Costume Awards
Awarded to a routine with exceptional costuming at each award session. Costume awards are not based on scores.
Best In Show
Custom Wanna Dance? plaque awarded to the routine receiving the highest mark of the competition.
Most Entertaining Performance
Custom Wanna Dance? plaque awarded to the routine that stands out to the adjudicators as most entertaining of the competition.
Studio Spirit Award
This award is selected by the Wanna Dance? staff and is awarded to the studio with not only the most team spirit but the studio that exemplifies good sportsmanship and the true spirit of dance.
The Final Callback Dance Off
The highest scoring Junior (Petite, Mini, Junior) and Senior (Intermediate, Teen, Senior) group/line from each participating studio is invited back to the stage to compete for the title of Final Callback Champion. Final Callback Champions receive a banner to display in their studio.
*Dance off show order will always be all junior routines followed by all senior routines in alphabetical order by studio code.
The National Final Callback Dance Off
The Junior and Senior final callback champions in each event compete once more in the online audience choice event to be named the 2025 Wanna Dance National Final Callback Champions in the Junior and Senior divisions. This event takes place approximately three (3) weeks after the final Wanna Dance event of the season. Voting is open for two (2) weeks. Winner announcement will be made live approximately three (3) weeks after voting closes. Champions receive a custom banner to display in their studio.
Improv Challenge
Divided into age divisions
Mini (petite/mini)
Junior (junior/intermediate)
Senior (teen/senior/advanced)
When there are 1-5 improv contestants in an age division: Each dancer will be marked for their performance and receive beautiful custom designed glitter medal.
When there are 6+ improv contestants in an age division three (3) dancers will receive a "Callback" to compete again in the Final Callback Dance Off for the title of Improv Champion. Improv champions receive a custom Wanna Dance? plaque.
*Categories may be condensed or eliminated at the discretion of Wanna Dance? if insufficient entries are received.
